The Nuclear Industry Today: On a Steep Curve
Concerns over "Energy Security" and "Global Warming" have ushered in an era of nuclear renaissance worldwide. Fifteen developed countries have re-initiated their civilian nuclear power programs and India has made a macro commercial leap into the nuclear arena post the Indo-US Nuclear deal and other ensuing MoUs. Constructing a nuclear power plant spans 5-7 years. While 40 plants are currently under construction in 20 countries, an additional 70 are slated for construction in the next 15 years. In India, the contribution of nuclear power to the overall electricity generation is expected to rise from the current level of 3% to 25% by 2030.
Careers in Nuclear Industry: Emerging Vistas
A plethora of new exciting career opportunities are emerging in the fast growing nuclear energy industry across the value chain for the young and energetic engineering talent of India. Such career openings exist with EPC companies, equipment manufacturers; technical service providers, utility companies, and specifically with nuclear power plants’ management ranging from design, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance and waste management.
